Anders
The youngest son of a Swedish father and Finnish mother, Anders grew up in the far north of Sweden under the northern lights. His astronomy studies took him ever farther south until in 2007 he signed on for a PhD split between Copenhagen and Tenerife.
Valeria
Growing up in Mexico City, Valeria was always fascinated by astronomy and in 2005 moved to Tenerife to obtain her PhD under one of the most amazing skies in the world. She’s the daughter of an Austrian mother and a Mexican father, and she’s the mother of the most beautiful boy and two amazing kitties.
Our story
We’ve been together for almost eleven years! But how did it all start?
2008
Once upon a time in Portugal...
It’s the classical old story. Boy goes to a numerical astrophysics workshop. So does girl, and they bump into each other. We first met in Évora, Portugal, in 2008, and in the time that we didn’t spend debugging code we hung out together in magical forests and churches made out of human bones, and consumed considerable amounts of Red Bull.
2008-2009
Tenerife, Canary Islands, the World
As it happened, later that year Anders moved to Tenerife, where Valeria already lived. Once we were both inhabiting the same island, our stars began to revolve around one another, and we became a couple! We had a great year together in Tenerife, exploring both that amazing island as well as many other places around Europe and all around the world, where both academic and private travels brought us in that very special time.
2012-2016
A new beginning
After a couple of years of long-distance relationship while Valeria pursued a post-doc in Mexico, we reunited in Sweden in 2012. After a short time living on the family farm in the far north (driving tractors, chopping wood, planting potatoes, and chasing a Venus transit in an old Volvo), we took our cats and moved to Malmö in early 2013 to start a new life together. With each other and with the kitties!
2017-
It's a boy!
On the 1st of August 2017, our lives changed forever with the birth of our beautiful baby boy Thor. From that day on, we’re not only lovers and soulmates, but also parents. It’s been an incredible ride together, for the whole past decade and even more so as we raise our son and continue to build our life together on love, companionship and family.

Wedding ceremony on 6th June 2019
At noon, we officially tie the knot in the presence of close family and many heavy metal fans. At night, Def Leppard, Tenacious D and Slayer perform in our wedding! How many get that kind of lineup to play at their wedding?
Moments
We’ve had an incredible journey together so far, and it’s almost impossible to sum it up in a few words. But since a picture says more than a thousand words anyway, here’s the equivalent of a few thousand words to give you at least an idea!

How to get there
- Car: about a 15 minute drive from Malmö -> click for map
- Taxi/Uber
- Bus: The nearest stop is “Västra Klagstorp Kyrka”, around 500m away. It has connections to Hyllie, Södervärn, and Malmö C. Buses run every 15 min in the afternoon and then gradually less frequently. After 10pm it’s about once per hour.
Parking
There is plenty of parking space at the site directly!
